GISCI Policy Manual
The GISCI Policy Manual is created by authority of the GIS Certification Institute Constitution and Bylaws, and it is supplemental to them.  It is designed to guide the operations of the GISCI.

Public Registry Consent Statement

By obtaining and maintaining GIS Professional (GISP) certification, you consent to the publication of limited professional information in the GISCI Public Registry. This registry supports transparency and allows employers, peers, and the public to verify your certification status.

The following information may be displayed on the GISCI website:

  • First Name, Middle Name, Last Name
  • Professional Title and Company
  • City, State/Province, ZIP/Postal Code, Country
  • Certification Date and Expiration Date
  • Certification Number
  • Current Certification Status

This information is published solely for credential verification and professional recognition within the geospatial community. No personal contact information—such as email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses—is collected or displayed publicly.

GISCI processes and publishes this limited data in compliance with applicable international privacy laws and regulations, including:

  • The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • The UK Data Protection Act 2018 / UK GDPR
  • Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
  • Australia’s Privacy Act 1988
  • Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD)
  • South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
  • Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI)
  • Applicable U.S. state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)

By maintaining your certification, you acknowledge that you understand and consent to the publication of the above information for these purposes. You may request correction or removal of your published information at any time by contacting GISCI at info@gisci.org.
